The promise and problems with Artificial Intelligence

Sunday, 2/1/2026 11:30a | We're glad you want to join us for this fun UUFSD Auction event!

Victor Seguritan is a computational biologist by training and has used AI professionally for over a decade in various industries such as finance, genomics, and medicine. His doctoral research explored deep neural network architectures (precursors to chatGPT) and their application to predict the function of viral gene sequences. As a data scientist, he has trained chatbots for document prediction tasks and created machine learning models to predict fraud.

For this “Lunch & Learn”, we will explore the basic guts of an artificial neural network, the basic architecture of a chatbot or LLM, the accuracies of chatbots, and the resources used to train these computationally expensive models. Our goal is to understand the strengths and limitations of LLMs in order to better compare them to our own biological neural networks.

DAY: Sunday, February 1
TIME: 11:30-1:00pm

Tickets are $25
